The Synergy Organization is proud to have been retained by Western Maryland Health System (WMHS) in Cumberland, MD to conduct the nationwide search for their Director of Community Relations and Marketing.
WMHS is dedicated to promoting community health and wellness and providing the highest quality of patient-centered care to patients. The system’s visionary and community-focused approach was recently recognized by the American Hospital Association with the Carolyn Boone Lewis Living the Vision Award. This is in recognition of their improvement of community health through actions that go beyond traditional health care.
Patients in the tristate area are offered convenient access to care through Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, a beautiful 275-bed acute care hospital built in 2009, Physician Practices, Outpatient Locations, Urgent Care Centers, a Skilled Nursing Facility and Home Care Services. With over 2,300 employees, 250 physicians and 90 advanced practice professionals on staff, WMHS is recognized as both an Employer Of Choice and the largest employer in the region.
The Director of Community Relations will report to the Chief Executive Officer and enjoy working in a dynamic environment with a visionary and collegial leadership team. This innovative and entrepreneurial new leader will have the opportunity to direct the system’s Strategic Marketing, Advertising and Community Relations to further WMHS’ mission and ensure the System’s presence throughout the community, region and state.
As the primary liaison and spokesperson for the system, the Director of Community Relations and Marketing will coordinate and sustain internal and external communications for the system including news media relations, print/electronic publications, web site and social media initiatives. Additional opportunities for the Director include initiating press releases, media messages, delivering presentations, organizing special events and building relationships to support the health system’s outreach efforts and Foundation initiatives.
The successful candidate will bring exceptional marketing, communication and presentation skills, 5+ years of progressive healthcare leadership experience in Marketing and Community Relations, a Bachelors Degree in a related field (Masters preferred), and will be a subject matter expert regarding the latest technology trends in the industry.
