The Synergy Organization is proud to have been retained by Lompoc Valley Medical Center (“LVMC”), a community-focused, innovative and financially sound California Healthcare District, to conduct the nationwide search for their Chief Executive Officer.

Lompoc Valley Medical Center (LVMC), formerly known as Lompoc Healthcare District, was the first operating healthcare district hospital established in California and was created in 1946 by the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors. The 463-square-mile district includes the city of Lompoc, Mission Hills, Mesa Oaks, Vandenberg Village, a portion of Vandenberg Air Force Base and the area east toward Buellton, CA.

In 2010, voters in the Lompoc Valley approved a $75 million bond financing measure by 87 percent, the highest success rate for a special district bond in California history, and contributed $4 million in donations to build the new, state-of-the-art 60-bed Lompoc Valley Medical Center.  Hospital services at LVMC include 24-hour emergency medicine, diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, respiratory care services, surgical and anesthesia services.  The District also includes Lompoc Valley Comprehensive Care Center, a recently remodeled 110-bed skilled rehabilitation and long-term care facility; LVMC Counseling Center; LVMC Family Caregiver Support Network; a physician-based Hematology-Oncology practice, Lompoc Valley Outpatient Laboratory & Imaging Center; Physician Services for primary and specialty care; and the Lompoc Valley Medical Center Sleep Disorder Center.

LVMC’s recent recognitions include a prestigious 5-Star quality rating for Lompoc Valley Medical Center’s Comprehensive Care Center, and the hospital’s designation as one of the “100 SafeCare Hospitals®” for best overall performance among 3,500 acute care, nonfederal hospitals in the US.

The Chief Executive Officer will have the opportunity to work closely with the community elected Lompoc Valley Medical Center Board of Directors and a tenured, highly talented and high performing leadership team to further the mission, vison and values of the District.  This new leader will serve to ensure the continuance of patient-focused, quality healthcare delivery and responsible stewardship of the District’s resources while identifying new opportunities, programs, affiliations, expansions and changes to identify and address organizational needs and the community’s ongoing healthcare needs.

This outward facing new leader will enjoy a highly accessible and visible role in the community and will build strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external constituents of Lompoc Valley Medical Center, the community and relevant associations and government entities.  The Chief Executive Officer will also participate in local, state and national community groups and associations and advocacy groups to further the interests of the Lompoc Valley Community and will understand and communicate the needs of the organization and the Lompoc Valley community to gain support and resources for the District.

The successful candidate will bring exceptional presentation, communication and relationship building skills, a passion for delivering quality health care and a minimum of 10 years of progressive, relevant leadership experience in an acute care setting.  Strong knowledge of Best Practices, local, state and federal regulations and requirements are required, along with a Bachelors Degree (Masters Preferred) in a related field.  Candidates with a clinical background are strongly encouraged to apply.
