The Synergy Organization is proud to have been retained by MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center (MSMHC), an award winning and highly respected acute care hospital, to conduct the nationwide search for its Senior Director of Nursing.

Continually evolving to provide exceptional care to the community, MSMHC is in the process of constructing a new Cancer Center, is redesigning and expanding its Emergency Room and has recently announced being the first to offer Halcyon Cancer Treatment services in Washington, D.C.. The hospital will soon acquire other new technologies including a Linear Accelerator (LINAC) & Zap mini cyber knife. The hospital is undergoing multiple facilities upgrades including upgraded and redesigned Patient Rooms; upgraded and expanded Solarium and Waiting Areas; On-campus expansion of its Gastroenterology Practice and recently completed 2MM Electrophysiology Lab.
The new Senior Director of Nursing will enjoy collaboratively developing and operationalizing organizational plans to accomplish departmental, hospital and system goals and objectives; facilitating and maintaining quality Standards of Nursing Practice within the hospital; conducting daily patient and staff rounding; and, creating exceptional, structured communication channels to ensure positive relations with and between patients, families, clinical staff and associates. Areas of responsibility for this new leader will include Cardiac Catheterization, Perioperative Services, Women’s and Children’s Services, the Float Pool and Hematology/Oncology.
The successful candidate will bring a passion for leadership, learning and mentoring along with experience in successfully leading service lines and/or operations for their organization. Demonstrated experience in Perioperative Services is required, along with experience writing, implementing and continually improving upon policies, procedures and maintaining compliance with Joint Commission Accreditation standards.
This new leader will bring a passion for providing patient-centered care, a Masters Degree in Nursing, Hospital Administration, business or a related field along with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. A minimum of 5 years successful leadership experience in the acute hospital setting is required, along with a deep knowledge of and experience with Operating Room procedures and budgeting is required. Specialty Certification in Nursing Administration may be acquired within the first 12 months of hire.
